Fellowship at Zion

Announcements this Week

All events are listed on our Zion church calendar on this website.  Check this calendar at any time if you have schedule questions.

WELCOME VISITORS – We are delighted that you have joined us today in worship.  We pray that you will experience the Lord’s presence as we worship together.  Would you please be so kind as to complete a Connection Card so that we can let you know what’s happening at Zion and invite you to join us.  (At the 8:30 service, the card is on the back counter.)

TODAY is REFORMATION SUNDAY – Reformation Day is October 31st, but when the 31st doesn’t fall on a Sunday, the prior Sunday is observed as Reformation Sunday.  It was on Oct. 31st in 1517 that Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses, which is seen as the start of the Reformation.  The 95 Theses are issues that Luther, a monk and university professor, wanted the theologians of the western church to discuss/debate.  Little did Luther know that this list would spark the Reformation.  P. S. – We know Oct 31st as Halloween, but it was originally known as “Hallow’s Eve” (the day before All Saints’ Day).  It was because of “Hallow’s Eve” that Luther posted his 95 Theses.

The AUTUMN SOUP SUPPER, “Food for the Body and Soul” will be held on Oct. 28th at 6pm.  There will be two soups, Tuscan Bean and Pumpkin Soup and Bread & Butter.  Please bring a dessert to share. There will be time for fellowship and a brief time for Christian education.  Please sign-up if you are coming.  This event is sponsored by the Fellowship Committee.

ZION ARTISTS SHOWCASE is scheduled to be held at Zion on Nov. 15, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  This is a new opportunity to enjoy a variety of artistic mediums.  You will be able to meet the artists, (all members and friends of Zion), as they display their work.  Demonstrations and explanations will also be shared.  Items for purchase will also be available.

THE HOME GROUP Bible Study meets on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm at the home of Liz & Brian Griswold, 9 E 5th St., Barnegat Light.  The study is using “The Chosen” movie, season 5, as their study.  All are welcome.

INTRODUCING THE SUGGESTION BOX – Do you have an idea for ministry at Zion, if so, you may wish to use the SUGGESTION BOX to pass on your idea.  There are two boxes, one in the narthex to the Nave and one in the entrance area to the Fellowship Hall.  Your suggestion will be passed on to the appropriate congregational leader.

YOU ARE INVITED by Dr. Glenn and the Rev. Diane Burkland to a Bible Study that they lead via Zoom on Tuesdays at 10:00.  The present study is on the book of Acts.  You are cordially invited to participate.  For more information, please email us at ZionChurchLBI@gmail.com.
